FAQ
Can I put my cutting board in the dishwasher?
Can I put my cutting board in the dishwasher?
Absolutely not. The extreme heat, harsh detergents, and prolonged exposure to water in a dishwasher will severely damage, warp, and crack the natural wood. Hand washing is the only way to clean your board.
Do I need to treat or oil my cutting board?
Do I need to treat or oil my cutting board?
Yes! To keep your native wood cutting board looking beautiful and performing perfectly, you need to condition it. We recommend applying food-grade mineral oil or a specialized wood butter/beeswax every 3 to 4 weeks, or whenever the wood starts to look dry. Simply rub the oil in with a soft cloth, let it sit for a few hours (or overnight), and buff off any excess.
Is it safe to cut raw meat on a wooden cutting board?
Is it safe to cut raw meat on a wooden cutting board?
Yes, it is perfectly safe. Wood has natural antibacterial properties. However, to avoid cross-contamination, we recommend washing the board thoroughly with hot, soapy water immediately after cutting raw meat. Many of our customers prefer to use one side of the board exclusively for raw meat and the other side for vegetables and bread.
Will my knives get dull using this board?
Will my knives get dull using this board?
On the contrary! Natural wood is one of the best surfaces for your knives. Unlike glass, stone, or hard plastic cutting boards, wood absorbs the impact of the blade, keeping your kitchen knives sharper for a much longer time.
